Diet Tips and advice:

Healthy eating is essential to well-being. Good health of body and mind, a nutritious and balanced diet is one of the best ways to protect and promote good health.

Our food intake dictates the nourishment we receive daily. Along with regular physical exercise, good food is essential. It contributes to keep our energy levels high during active periods, help ward off illness and combat chronic disease. There has been a definite rise in consciousness regarding what we eat and people are more interested in their health all the time.

Here at DietBud, we have adopted the 80/20 rule. 80% nutrition, 20% exercise. This is a tried and tested method of losing weight.

So if you are overweight, don’t assume joining a gym is the key to losing weight. You’ll be wasting far to much money, and on average, 59% of people who join the gym, quit within the 1st month of joining!

What Are The Best Foods For Weight-Loss and Why?

Balance and variety is key, but fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables are also massively important. Avoiding regular meals laden with complex starchy carbs such as bread and pasta, and reducing the use of processed foods, will help, your food should be vibrant, fragrant, fresh and colourful, it should be attractive and appealing to the eye and you should always know where your next meal is coming from. As the day goes on your need for heavy meals should be replaced by lighter food and less calorific impact. Choose eating smaller portions 5 x a day and low fat protein based meals with vegetables / salad as a perfect evening meal choice.

Don't Skip Breakfast

Research shows that eating breakfast helps you control your weight. Some people skip breakfast as they think it will help them loose weight but DON’T do this!! Skipping meals doesn’t help us lose weight and isn’t good for us because we can miss out on essential nutrients. If you did skip breakfast, you’ll find your cravings later in the morning, and you’ll more than likely snack on junk. We’ve all done it ! NOW is the time to stop it if you want to lose weight.

Eat Regular Meals

Some people think missing meals will help them lose weight, but it has been shown that eating regularly during the day helps to burn calories at a faster rate as well as reduce the temptation of snacking on junk. In the plan you will get from us at DietBud, we advise to eat 5 times per day. As follows:

  • Breakfast: Healthy F1 Shake preferably!
  • Mid Morning snack: Fruit, apples, grapes, bananas
  • Lunch: Healthy F1 Shake preferably!
  • Mid Afternoon snack: Cashew nuts / Roasted soy beans / Protein Bar / Snackajacks
  • Dinner: Up to an 800 calorie meal: Example: Chicken, vegetables,Brown Rice, Potatoes (try sweet Potatoes! Whole-wheat Tortillas,Pasta, Meat, fish, Eggs, Beans and other non-dairy sources of protein.

You might occasionally confuse thirst with hunger. You can end up consuming extra calories by snacking when you think you’re hungry, when actually a glass of water is really what you need. You need to consume a minimum of 5 pints over the course of 1 day, or more if it’s warm or you’re exercising. It can be difficult to get that water down, so it’s really best to remember to have a pint of water with each meal, and then take a drinks bottle to work with you perhaps and have it over the course of the day.

Using Herbal Aloe (Mango) will help you with your water intake, whilst also tasting absolutely delicious.

Check Calories

Reading the labels can help you choose healthier options, and keep a check on the amount of calories, fat, salt and sugars you eat. Use myfitnesspal to keep tabs on your calories (can be found on any smartphone app store) it has every product you can imagine. It also lists all of Herbalife’s products! How good is that!

Alcohol - Cut It Down!

Calories from alcohol are ’empty calories’, they have no nutritional value. Most alcoholic drinks contain traces of vitamins and minerals, but not usually in amounts that make any significant contribution to our diet.

Drinking alcohol also reduces the amount of fat your body burns for energy. While we can store nutrients, protein, carbohydrates, and fat in our bodies, we can’t store alcohol. So our systems want to get rid of it, and doing so takes priority. All of the other processes that should be taking place (including absorbing nutrients and burning fat) are interrupted.

Over time, drinking too much can easily contribute to weight gain. Cut it down, or better still, stop drinking.
